Bruce Hoskins, DVM

dr. bruce hoskins, dvmDr. Bruce Hoskins received is Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1983.  He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 1989.  He has been in companion animal practice continuously since that time, and has been the owner of the Croton Animal Hospital in Croton-On-Hudson, New York since September 2000.

Dr. Hoskins is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and it’s local chapters.

He is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association  (AAHA) and the Croton Animal Hospital has been an AAHA certified veterinary hospital since 1974.  Dr. Hoskins is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and is accredited by the USDA to do regulatory work/health certificate examinations on behalf of the agency.   

In addition to writing many articles for the Croton Animal Hospital newsletter, Dr. Hoskins was lead author of an article published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association titled, Ultrasonographic Diagnosis of Detached Retina in a Dog.

Carol Popolow Abraham, DVM

dr. carol popolow, dvmDr. Carol Popolow Abraham received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1986. She combined her first year of veterinary school with her senior year at Cornell and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the New York State of College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 1989. Her post-doctoral internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery was completed in 1990 at the Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey. Dr. Popolow’s early practice years were spent in Southampton, NY and she has been with the Croton Animal Hospital since 1999.

Dr. Popolow Abraham's general small animal practice includes dogs, cats, pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents), reptiles, and birds. In addition to general small animal practice Dr. Popolow has an interest in animal behavioral medicine and had the opportunity to be involved in marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation on Long Island as head consulting veterinarian with the Riverhead Foundation.

Dr. Popolow Abraham is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the New York State Veterinary Medical Association, the Westchester-Rockland Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, and the Wildlife Veterinary Society. Dr. Popolow has been consulted for and quoted in several publications including Cat Fancy Magazine, DVM magazine, The Philadelphia Times, and the CBS Evening News.


Michael Henes, DVM

dr. michael henes, dvmDr. Michael Henes received his DVM degree at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1968. After five years in clinical small animal practice, he conceived, built and opened the Croton Animal Hospital in June, 1973, where he has been a fixture ever since.

In recent years, he has devoted his non-veterinary hours to his love of photography, doing professional photo shoots of pets and their people. In 2005 Mike was chosen: “Best Pet Photographer,” by Westchester Magazine. His work has been displayed in various shows throughout Westchester and New York City.

Dr. Henes is a member of the AVMA, the NYS and Westchester/Rockland VMA as well as the AAHA and is an associate member of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology. His professional journal contributions include “Cardiac Manifestations of Lyme Disease in a Dog” published in VM/SAC.

Dr. Henes is a founding member and secretary of the executive board of the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) located in Greenburgh. He has served two terms on the Croton-Harmon school board and is past president of the Bramblebush homeowners association.
